3 tips for choosing your football boots

If you are a football player, you would want to have the best football boots to boost your performance on the pitch.

But with the different models available you will certainly have a hard time choosing the most appropriate one. Here are 3 tips to help you make the best choice.

Surface

The surface where you are going to play will definitely influence your selection of football boots. If you are going to play on a muddy or humid pitch, you will need to choose a boot that consists of metal studs. If you are going to play on a standard pitch, then you will preferably go for a boot consisting of moulded studs.

If you are going to play on AstroTurf, then studs are not required. There are special shoes that are designed for Astro Turf and will provide an appropriate grip for this surface.

Playing position

Your playing position will also influence your choice of boot. If you play in defence, you will want a sturdy boot that will protect you during a tackle and also provide the necessary grip to avoid slipping. On the other hand, if you are a forward player or a winger you would want a lightweight boot that will not hinder you when you are trying to dribble past players.

Assou-Ekotto says that he prefers to buy his football boots

St Étienne left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto says that he prefers to buy his football boots from online shopping platforms like eBay.

This comes as a major surprise considering that most footballers are given huge sponsorship deals and their gear is usually covered by the sponsors. The former Tottenham left back says that he often buys the shoes for around € 30. Apart from saving him a lot of money, this also helps him to stand out from the rest of the crowd. The 31-year-old is currently with the French outfit after having moved last summer.

He is one of the popular names from Cameroon football to have his presence in the Premier League. However, he retired from international duty in 2014 after falling out with the Cameroon FA. The 31-year-old has made a first-team regular for St Etienne and has already featured in 13 games for the club. He says that it is largely difficult to get sponsorships as an African footballer. He highlighted the difficulties of doing business outside Europe. This means that he is able to watch most of European teammates enjoy the benefits of huge sponsorships from sportswear companies like Nike and so on.
