POGBA AND GRIEZMANN TO FILL THE BOOTS OF FORMER FRENCH GREATS

With France hosting a major tournament, the Euro 2016, there are set to win it if they defeat Portugal in the final slated for Sunday, 10 July. Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid and Paul Pogba of Juventus have been stellar for the country.

They are predicted to be the future of the French team that will fill the boots of football legends such as Zinedine Zidane and Michel Platini.

The country is known to rely heavily on a key player in major tournaments. There was Platini, then Zidane, and even Thierry Henry. Many suggested that with the very busy season of Griezmann and Pogba being overrated, that the host might not still go far but the team has done good to prove them wrong. The team recovered from their sluggish start, improving with each game to silence their critics.

Griezmann is now the top scorer with six goals, after his brace in the 2-0 victory over Germany at the semi final. He is now the fourth in the all time scoring chart in a Euro tournament. The 25-year old enjoyed a splendid season with Atletico and has a lot of clubs begging for his signature but he has opted to remain at the club. One of the high points in the last campaign was when he scored against German champions Bayern Munich at the semi final of the UEFA Champions League. They eventually lost in the final against their bitter rival Real Madrid for the second time in three years but it proves a point.

Pogba has been highly successful at Juventus, winning multiple Serie A titles with the club even at the young age of 23. He is set to break the world record with his transfer to Manchester United or Real Madrid, as they have allegedly indicated their interests in the player. Both players are sure already filing the boots of great French football players.
